The Joonbug Years

Life is funny. I start my carrier as professional photographer taking pictures in Nightclubs, back in 1989, one year after we moved to Buenos Aires. At that time I was already working on a photo lab and buying a camera was the natural “next step”. I had the chance to work with good and generous event photographers and working every single weekend helped me improving my skills.

15 Years after that, I found myself moving again, after a French interlude, starting from scratch in a new city, New York City. I spent the winter adjusting to the new life, looking for jobs and if language wasn’t hard enough, trying to understand the American Way of Life was even harder.

One day at the beginning of the spring 2004 everything changed: I found a job at AdoramaPix, the biggest photolab in NYC, and at the same time I start working with Joonbug, a marketing company that help promoters organize and promote their parties in the NYC night scene. It was like starting all over again, been 18 again and having a brand new world in front of me. Nice…

Event photography took me to different venues, help me meeting different kind of people and push me to analyze them, in order to became a better photographer –and a better person. These are just some samples of 5 years working 3 nights a week in different clubs in the city that never sleep –probably, but try to find a decent coffee at 3am…
